We are looking for an excellent admin assistant who will help us with varied admin and clerical tasks within our foundation. Duties of the Administrative Assistant include providing support to our team members and the board. Assisting in daily office needs and managing our foundation’s general administrative activities. Administrative Assistant responsibilities include tracking team member's log sheet, arranging and participating in interviews, providing meeting minutes and preparing reports and maintaining appropriate filing systems. The ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to organize their work using tools, like MS Excel and office equipment. If you also have previous experience as a Secretary or Executive administrative assistant and familiarity within the nonprofit sector, we’d like to meet you. Ultimately, a successful Admin Assistant should ensure the efficient and smooth day-to-day operation of our office. You do not need to work full time, a couple of  hours a week will be appreciated.

 

  • Answer and direct phone calls

  • Organize and schedule appointments

FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEER

Job Description:

This is an important role, that will enable Unity in Diversity to attract financial support and donations from individuals, groups, the national government and international bodies. Unity in Diversity aids refugees and asylum seekers for sustainable integration in the host communities. We are now searching for committed individuals with previous fundraising experience or who would like to gain such experience, to help support our team in planning of fundraising activities or other ways to raising funds for our cause. As our fundraising volunteer, you will be supervised directly by the project manager and overall by the director.

 

Fundraising Volunteer's duties:

  • To help promote and source support for our the foundation’s projects

  • To help promote the sponsorship packages by sourcing suitable organisations, making contact with the appropriate people and securing financial and in-kind support

  • To source organisations and contacts to provide auction and raffle prizes

  • Communicating the importance of UID’s work and our fundraising activities and the benefits to sponsors and supporters in being involved with these events

  • Helping promote our fundraising pages or need through our social media channels and Facebook advertising

  • Assisting with general event planning, administration

 

Skills:

 · An interest and commitment to humanitarian causes, especially with regards to refugees, education and empowerment

· Good interpersonal skills, you will be friendly, professional and have a persuasive manner

 · Excellent written and verbal skills in English. Knowledge or Dutch language is desirable but not essential.

COMMUNICATIONS VOLUNTEER

Job Description:

We are looking for social media and web-savvy volunteers to join our Communication Team. The communications volunteer will assist Project Manager with UID’s communications, promotion, branding or marketing. This position will help to gain hands-on experience and training in many aspects of marketing and development, while also gaining a good understanding of a small nonprofit organization.

 

Volunteer's responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting Project Manager with overall external and internal communications.

  • Assisting with the implementation of the Strategic Development plan for communications, including newsletters (internal, external), and other related to social media tasks in general.

  • Participating in the branding of specific projects, fully supporting the PR strategy  of the foundations and executing it in different phases.

  • Creating and curating engaging content.

  • Maintaining and updating UID social media sites. This can be done with other social media volunteers.

  • Assisting in liaising with volunteer coordinators and project management team to create relevant media content for each project (promoting events).

  • Assisting with certain press opportunities – press releases, sponsorship opportunities, advertisements, and promotional materials etc.

  • Assisting staff with tracking, formatting and archiving reviews and other media on socio-cultural integration, alongside research team.

  • Assisting with mailings to our audience and other contacts.

  • Attending the monthly meetings to report and provide input from the Social Media POV for overall marketing efforts for UID’s project and UID in general for the year.

ENGLISH TEACHER

Job Description:

We are looking for an excellent English teacher to help teach a range of students from beginner to advanced levels. We usually keep our class sizes quite small (around 2 to 5 students maximum) to better facilitate teacher-student communication) and so you can expect a comfortable teaching environment. Additionally, classes will usually take place 1-2x per week depending on the availability of teachers and students. Due to the current situation surrounding COVID-19 all classes will be held online for the time being. 

 

Skills:

  • We prefer native English speakers (but will still consider non-natives who can prove they are fluent)

  • We prefer English teachers who have experience teaching and it is better if they have some qualifications already, but this is not a requirement

LANGUAGE PROJECT ASSISTANT

Job Description:

We are looking for someone to assist our language project coordinator with running the language project. The tasks mainly include doing research on future projects and providing support to the project coordinator. Please note that we require a commitment of 6-9 months for this job (between 6-10 hours per week), as the goal is to train the project assistant to take over the position of our project coordinator. Thus the ideal candidate should be willing to take over the coordination of the project in a few months (the date can be discussed upon commencement).

Unity in Diversity is a Dutch based humanitarian organization, which has organised projects in the Netherlands and Nigeria since 2017.  Our focus in Nigeria has always been rooted in education and empowerment, and we are now looking to develop a program specifically designed to facilitate access to higher education for bright young minds in Nigeria.

English Teacher

We are currently looking for a talented and engaging English teacher.

 

General Job description:

As a volunteer teacher you will be teaching a class group of 2-5 students. We keep our class size small for better communication between the teacher and the students. The students range from beginner to advanced level in comprehension, speaking, and in reading English. 

 

As a result of the current COVID-19 restrictions, classes will be held on-line. Depending on the connectivity the web application for the online class will be determined by the teacher upon agreement with the students. Typically classes are held 1-2 times a week depending on your availability and the availability of your students. You will be directly supervised by the Language Project Coordinator.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate class group of 2-5 students

  • Devise lessons plans and arrange class schedules

  • Monitor and track students development as well as participation in the lessons

  • Prepare monthly progress reports for submission to the Language Program Coordinator

  • Coordinate with the Language Program coordinator on matters related to the project such as but not limited to class schedule, reports, and resources needed

  • Work with the UID Language Project team to plan and implement this project and where possible, including the creation of an adequate English curriculum and in the identification of the resources needed such as books and articles 

  • Work as a project team member (class teacher) for the English language lesson project 


 

The ideal candidate should hold a recognized qualification in his/her respective field. A good command of written/spoken and an understanding of English grammar is essential. The following skill sets are required:
