You can also feel free to negotiate what kind of tasks you can help with. It doesn't have to be all that are listed.
  • That at the moment and due to our financial capacity, we are unable to provide transport reimbursements for those joining our team. Depending on the availability of funds and the nature of the event, we sometimes pre-arrange transport reimbursements with team members to encourage their participation and continued impact in the community.   • We require a letter of recommendation sent directly by the referee, preferably from a (former) employer, to our Country Director. You will be provided with a template to request such letters.

FUNDRAISING INTERN

Job Description:

This is an important role that will enable Unity in Diversity to attract financial support and donations from individuals, groups, the national government and international bodies. Unity in Diversity aids refugees and asylum seekers for sustainable integration in the host communities. We are now searching for committed individuals with previous fundraising experience or who would like to gain such experience, to help support our team in planning of fundraising activities or other ways to raise funds for our cause. As our fundraising intern, you will be supervised directly by the project manager and overall by the Assistant Country Director.

 

Fundraising Intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • To help promote and source support for our the foundation’s projects

  • To help promote the sponsorship packages by sourcing suitable organisations, making contact with the appropriate people and securing financial and in-kind support

  • To source organisations and contacts to provide auction and raffle prizes

  • Communicating the importance of UID’s work and our fundraising activities and the benefits to sponsors and supporters in being involved with these events

  • Helping promote our fundraising pages or need through our social media channels and Facebook advertising

  • Assisting with general event planning, administration

  • To assist with development and implementation of fundraising strategy

 

 

Skills:

  • An interest and commitment to humanitarian causes, especially with regards to refugees, education and empowerment

  • Good interpersonal skills, you will be friendly, professional and have a persuasive manner

  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English. Knowledge or Dutch language is desirable but not essential.

  • Self-motivated

  • Strategic and thorough in recording details

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills

  • Experience of managing simple databases in Excel

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Previous experience of working or volunteering in the not-for-profit sector (voluntary or paid), is desirable but not essential

  • Previous experience in fundraising/event management is desirable but not essential

Interns are required to commit a minimum of 15 hours per week (part-time) or 30 hours per week (full-time).  The minimum period for interning is 6 months. The start date for this position is immediate. On occasion we can accept applicants who have lesser months to intern.

PROJECT MANAGER FOR UID AFRICA PROJECT

Context: 

Every year, thousands of bright young men and women are unable fulfil their dreams of attaining higher education in Nigeria. Research shows that despite adequate qualifications, access to University in many Nigerian States remains competitively low due to a number of socioeconomic and cultural factors, fundamentally having an adverse impact on access to higher education.

Unity in Diversity is a Dutch based humanitarian organization, which has organised projects in the Netherlands and Nigeria since 2017.  Our focus in Nigeria has always been rooted in education and empowerment, and we are now looking to develop a program specifically designed to facilitate access to higher education for bright young minds in Nigeria. 

We are looking for a motivated Project Team Manager to develop from concept to implementation, a new and exciting project aimed at facilitating access to university for young Nigerians! 

Job Description:

The Project Manager is responsible for assisting with the direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of projects; while remaining aligned with strategy, commitments and goals of the organization. As our Project Manager, you will contribute to us achieving our goals as a foundation. You will be directly supervised by our Country Director and board chairperson.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with planning and implementation projects

  • Assisting with defining project scope, goals and deliverables

  • Assisting with defining tasks and required resources

  • Work with team members to raise funds for projects

  • Assist with tracking project resources

  • Assisting with creation of schedule and project timeline

  • Assist with tracking deliverables

  • Support and project teams

  • Work on quality assurance of each project

  • Assist project manager with managing Issues and Risk

  • Monitoring and reporting on project progress to project manager

  • Assist project teams if needed, during preparation of project reports on progress as well as problems and solutions. These reports will be submitted to the project manager

  • Inform project manager on the need for change when necessary to meet project outputs

  • Assist project manager with evaluation and assessment results of projects

  • Quality and satisfaction

Skills:

  • Critical thinking and problem solving

  • Excellent decision-making and leadership capabilities

  • Contract negotiation

  • Conflict resolution experience
